ILF004 Round Cylinder Bullet Lock a unique feature of this lock is that once the key is turned the actual bolt moves with the key, there is a pin attached to the bolt which moves with it. This pin and bolt is what effectively locks the roller shutter door. The finish for this model is chrome plated. 2 Keys are supplied as standard.
Bullet locks, also known as, Roller shutter door locks are used to secure roller shutter doors and prevent access once in the locked position. They can be installed in the U-Channels of the door by way of welding the housing to the shutter and drilling through both. When the door is then in the closed position the bullet lock can be inserted into the housing and by using the key, lock the door and stop it from opening until the key is re-inserted and the ILF004 bullet lock is removed.
A split located behind the cylinder barrel is rotated by a turn of the key, allowing the bullet to be inserted or withdrawn from the housing.
Hi guys. My name's Darrell. I'm head of the tech team here on
LocksOnline.co.uk and today we're doing product reviews.
The product I have in front of me at this moment in time is the ILS bullet
Now it's slightly different to most bullet locks, and it requires a special
housing in which for this bullet lock to work. But there is some
distinctive characteristics of this particular bullet lock that if you do
have the housing on your roller shutter door, then at least then you can
determine whether or not this is the actual lock for you.
Now, if you don't know what bullet locks are, they're for roller shutter
doors. If I put this down for a second; a roller shutter door as we all
know, an industrial roller shutter door, they slide up and down on two
channels that sit on either side. Two steel channels that sit on either
side. You'll find them in industrial units and so forth.
And the idea of a bullet lock is that you would weld a housing to the U-
channel that actually holds the roller shutter door. You drill a hole
through it when it's in its locked position, and you'd weld a housing then
on on the actual U-section of the actual part of that holds the shutter
door into place. And in that housing is what you would insert then the
bullet lock. And the idea is that the bullet lock then would project all
the way through, though that U-housing, the chassis, through the actual
shutter door and out the other end. And the idea is then when you've locked
that and secured that into place, you can't lift the roller shutter door
So what you may find is if you're taking over an industrial unit or
something and you're not quite sure or it has the housings there, and you
want to resecure it when the bullet locks are gone, then what you'll find
is that there's distinctive about these is that you'll see that there's an
instep in your housing to accept this particular part here.
Now this particular bullet lock works that when you turn the key, you
actually turn the bolt at the back. And if you notice there, I'm turning
the bolt at the back there. Can you see it? And what you'll see there is
this pin that sits there and its that there that actually locks it into
position to stop you from being able to pull the bolt out.
So slightly different than some roller shutter door, roller shutter bullet
locks. This is the ILS version.
So what are their distinguishing marks? If you've got these locks on your
doors, what you'll find is you've got ILS also stamped on the actual front
of the housing there as well.
So without further ado, what we'll do is we'll get the old tape measures
out and the vernier gauge etc, and let's give you guys some measurements.
So if you think this is the one that's looking to suit your operation,
we'll get some measurements you can check out to make sure if you're going
to purchase one, you're purchasing the correct one.
So using the vernier gauge here, I'll get the housing size here first of
all. So we've got a measurement there of 24.8 millimeters, say 25 mil
diameter there. That piece that sits back there is 9.95, say 10
millimeters. The instep there then also, that it's slightly squared off, I
don't know if you can see that there, so I'll get that measurement. And
that measurement there is 15.2 millimeters, say 15 mil. And the height
there is 19.45 millimeters. The bolt projection off the back of the unit,
I'll just get a measurement on that. Nearly there. I'd say 54 millimeters
give or take. 53-1/2 millimeters if you want to be really accurate on that.
The overall length of the actual lock itself from end to end is 84.2
millimeters, say 84 millimeters.
So there you go. This is the ILS bullet lock. Available now from
LocksOnline.co.uk. And I hope we've given you enough information there for
you to make a considered opinion.
There is a measurement I have forgot so I'll just measure that now quickly
and that's of course the thickness of the actual bolt itself. So let me get
that measurement there. And that's 16 millimeters.
So as I was saying, I hope that's enough for you to make a considered
opinion as to whether or not you need to replace your bullet locks with
this particular style. But of course we have a whole range on our site so
if you need to have a look around, if this isn't the one for you then you
might see videos of the other types that we have on our site as well.
So many thanks for your time. If you want to come and see us it's
Hey, appreciate your time. Thank you. Bye-bye now.
