This model is indentified by the markings of Kenrick and Sentri Lock, which will be stamped on the side of the case of the gearbox itself. The Kenrick Sentry UPVC Window Lock gear box comes with industry standard 42mm centres; it also has a standard 7mm follower that accepts handle and hardware furniture.
Sentry design and manufacture a wide range of UPVC products for both windows and doors. They also design a range of gearboxes that are used as replacements for faulty window locks.
The reason the gearbox most likely needs to be changed is due to the amount of mechanical stress it has to deal with opening, closing, locking and unlocking the UPVC window. Over time they tend to break before any other part of the window lock, such as the strips themselves.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for tuning in and having a look at one of our product review videos.
The product that we have here at this moment in time is the Kenrick. It's the Sentry Lock. It's the gear box that's designed to go on UPVC windows. It's the centre gear box and this is the gear box here.
Now this is an old gear box, they don't necessarily manufacture these and install these much these days. The actual locking bars on either end are now obsolete. You can't get a hold of them anymore.
But nevertheless, what normally happens and what normally fails on this particular type of windows, it's the actual gearbox itself. It's this particular part here that actually fails. If the bars start seizing up or something like that than it puts a lot of stress on the gear box and it's normally that this part fails. So being able to still get these is really great and you know that means that you don't have to pop it out to change your windows.
Some of the unique mechanisms on this is that when the actual lock works it actually throws up this little tongue here that actually goes and locks into the frame as well as the bolts on either side. Now, on the centres and so forth the standard centres between the two screw holes is a standard 42 millimetres, that's pretty standard in the UK, in the industry and also the size of the follower – that's the size of the spindle – is 7 millimetres as well. So here's a typical handle here and it would sit in there and fit in there no problem at all. Okay, and that's basically how it would work.
So, like I said, the actual gear boxes are still available. The rods that go on either side are no longer available and so it's only this particular part that you can actually get a hold of. Well listen, if you need a bit more information or you need a bit more advice and you're not one hundred percent sure, pop onto our live chat on our website, it's totally free, you can either talk to me or any of the other guys in the sales team.
