The Maco inline UPVC window lock has been designed and manufactured by Maco, UPVC hardware specialists. This model is their inline version rather than an offset model. An indentifying mark of these models can be found on the faceplate of the window lock gearbox reading "Maco" and GR1 above this stamp. The GR corresponds to the individual size of these models. GR1 is 400mm, GR2 is 600mm, GR3 is 800mm and GR4 is 1000mm. These models can be retro fitted and the keeps can be customized to fit. The fixing centres of the Maco inline window lock is 42mm and it has a standard 7mm follower. The backset on these models can be found and indentified on the side of the gearbox indicating the size by reading 20 or 22 which relates to the backset size in mm. The height of the cams on this window lock are 8mm.
Maco are experts when it comes to UPVC products, they offer a wide range while maintaining affordable price tags.
One of the indentifying marks of these window locks is the printed name "Maco" on the gearbox itsself.
If you have one of these models installed, you may see GR1, GR2, GR3, or GR4 stamped on them. These relate to sizes as follows:
GR1 - 400mm
GR2 - 600mm
GR3 - 800mm
GR4 - 1000mm
Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm the head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. The products we're going to look at today is the range of Maco Window Locks. The expandable window locks that you'll find on most UPVC door and windows these days. This particular one is what we call the inline as opposed to the offset style lock and also they come in different sizes. So, let's get them out and let's have a look at them and try to help you make a determination whether or not these are the actual locks that you are looking for.
Now, one of the things about these Macos. They're quite new. They're new onto the market. They're more used now for more modern type of windows. So the chances are it may actually be this one more so. If your windows are older, if they are 10, maybe 15, maybe 20 years older, then the chances are this may not be the actual window lock you're looking for.
So that's the actual lock itself as you can see there, no problems at all. But let's get some information on you. If you were actually to zoom in there for us, Lee, you will see the name "Maco." So that's the first marker for you to have a look at. To have a look at Maco there. And then what you also see is you'll see these numbers here a "GR1" on this particular case, but you may see "GR2." You may see "GR3" or you may see "GR4." The purpose for those GR numbers is that it tells you what actual size they are. The GR1 is 400 millimetres across. GR2 is 600, GR3 is 800 and GR4 is a complete metre across so that's important as well. It can be retrofitted, so if you do have an older window and you want to put these in, it may be that you may need to adjust these slightly as to where you want them to be that keeps. But in general, they will normally try to fit.
Now, the centres here for the screw fixings for your handles are standard industry standard at 42 millimetres and the follower in there is a standard 7 millimetres. And if I was to get a handle there as you can see it fits in there, no problem at all.
Now another key ident that you need to look. If you've managed to get this out of the actual window and you want to have a look, what you may find here is a number, and on this one we've got "22" and we've got "BS" on there. And on this one, as an example, we've got "20." And those measurements are designed to tell you what backset they are. In other words, what the distance is from the face off the actual mechanism to the actual centre of the cam.
So in this particular case here, this is 22 and you would need to order a 22 if you're replacing it. But it's well worth checking. Even if you are trying to retrofit with this, it's well worth checking as to whether or not you need a 20 or a 22 millimetres, so it's important for you to check that out.
So there you go guys. I'm going to get a ruler just quickly because I'll just give you a quick measurement off the height of these cams. Just 2 secs there. Okay, we've got a ruler here. I just wanted to give you a height measurement of those there, and I'm pushing those in at around 8 millimetres to the height of those.
So there you go, guys. It's the range of Maco Inline, and the reason why they're inline is, as you can see there, the actual cam and gearbox assembly is actually sitting inline. So that's the reason for that. They're available on our website, LocksOnline.co.uk. But listen, if there's something I haven't mentioned here, and you think, "Oh, I could know that measurement" or "what is this measurement?" or if you're looking for a bit more advice, look, feel free to give us a call or use our live chat on our website. That's totally free and you can either chat with me or any of the guys on the team. We're all pretty knowledgeable on this group of products.
Other than that, can I say thanks for taking the time to have a look at this video. Come back and see us real soon. Come back and buy something off us would be even better. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the team, take care. Bye-bye.
