Hi, guys. My name is Darrel. I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in to look at one of our product review videos. The product that we're going to have a look at today is the hinge that is designed for UPVC doors. It's quite a common hinge in the market and we wanted to pick it up a little bit and get it out and show you guys.
If you're thinking that you need to change your hinges, there are a couple of little top tips that we might be able to help you with today. So it's the window wear range of hinges that are on our website and this is the 100mm version today. This is the actual hinge here. I've got it stripped down into little components, into its individual bits and pieces, because it allows you then to actually have a look to see whether or not this is the actual hinge for you.
So let's first of all look at the part that actually sits inside the door. This is the part that sits on the frame. You'll see there that you've got some knobs there to give it some strength. And you'll also see as well that there are three rows of fixings there across the centre. So that gives you a little bit more information as well should you need it, should you need to do so.
What you'll also find as well is that this particular part, now, which is the part that will actually sit on the door, there are two different versions that are available. There's a version that has got a five degree angle on it. If you can zoom in there, you'll notice there are two options on our site. There's a five degree version and then there's a zero degree version. If you look there, there's a slight bit of a cheese board cut, it's at a slight angle there, and that's the five degrees.
Now another top tip as well if you're thinking of changing and you're not 100% sure. Actually in there, if I turn it up the right way, you'll see there that it actually has got five stamped on it. So that gives you an indicator of what the degree of angle is. Of course the zero degree angle one which means there wouldn't be any angle on that at all.
That is the side that actually goes on to the frame and this is the side that actually goes on to the door. What you will find then is that you've got the pin that sits through the centre here and here's the pin. And once you've actually lined those up you can sit this through the centre and that slides down through the tube. There's a black nylon brush on either end which are your wear brushes. And it'll sit down in there like that.
So if you're thinking, "How do we take these hinges off?" I'm basically showing you in reverse how to take the hinges off. What you'll find is there is a black cap and these come with black caps there. And that black cap will sit on there like that and you'll need to pop these off. Then you need to undo this little screw here. This will allow you then to push that pin out and allow you then to split the door away from the frame. So that's how they actually come apart.
Once you're done, that one's back in there, you screw that up, etc. and you've put your pins on either side, they're obviously screwed to the door. That's the range of these hinges. It's very simple. There's not really much that we can really say about them, other than they are designed for UPVC doors.
So it's the window wear range, the 100mm, so that's from there all the way to there. It's 100mm. I'll give you the width of that as well, just in case you're interested in knowing that. That's 15mm, and the width there on this particular piece here is 13mm there. So of course you've got two sets of fixings there as well.
Just a recap to take the hinge apart, flip the clips off, undo that little pin there, slide the bolt out, and the two will split apart. So there you go guys. That's another product available on LocksOnline.co.uk.
