Suitable for use on doors up to 50mm thick, and assessed and certified to EN1634-1, this makes these ideal for use on fire doors - both 60 minute (FD60) and 30 minute (FD30).
- Anti-Pick - prevents lock-picking by creating false-positive results even for a trained lock-picker.
- Anti-Saw - hardened tube steel rollers within the deadlock exhaust sawing efforts, as they will spin freely once the saw hits them.
- Anti-Drill - tough defensive plates are mounted on both sides of the lock body to make a meal out of any drilling attacks.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel and I'm the head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have an quick look at one of our product review videos. Now, I've put all these short videos together to be able give you our customers the opportunity to just see the products that we have to offer and hopefully a little bit more detail than just the image that we have on our website. So today, I want to show you the Chubb/Union. I mean it's now branded union, it was Chubb, so it's exactly the same lock. It's a 3G114. Now, this particular lock is probably one of the most staplest Dead Locks that's available on the market. This is a British standard 5 Lever Dead Lock and the quality is absolutely immense. It's one of the locks that have stood the test of time in regards to its design and its implementation. There is obviously a lot more locks that are coming out now that are little more price sensitive in regards, but when you are looking for quality, when you are looking for something that is designed to last and give you good security, guys, you're not going to get any better than this particular Chubb/Union Lock that we have here today.
Now, there was a time that Chubb when they started building this particular type of lock, they decided in their infinite wisdom to change the size of the back sets and the case sizes and as years have progressed, they left themselves out on a bit of a limb and as much as nobody really now uses this particular size back set in the industry. There's more of a standardized backset, so if you're thinking that you all ready have a Chubb fitted or an Union and an easy be able to know if you have, is A is the silver body which I quite unique, but also the type of inscription that you'll see here on the outside. Now, you may have Chubb stamped on there. These do not have Chubb, but they're quite unique in regards to in their particular style and of course also might help you as well is the traditional brass key that would come with this. So if you have this older lock, you'd be better of trying to change it like for like purely and simply is because the backset on these are unique in both the three inch and two and half inch versions.
So it's well worth making the note. We'll go through that a little more in detail. We can get rebate kits with them so that's not a problem, if you've got a set of rebated doors, easy to fit those. They come in brass and obviously a stainless or silver finish as well, so no problem there. We can also key them alike for you so you can have groups of key-like locks on your houses and your garage, etc, so can have one key that fits all. So very quickly, we get some measurements on it for you and it will give you then an indication as to whether or not you have this lock. Another unique as well, is the way that this face plate is in regards to how this holds. You will actually screw the actual screws through the faceplate and also through the actual lock case as well. Another point as well, you can see, you've got the British standard kite mark here which means that it complies with the new British standard, the 361, the 2007 variant of British standard.
So let's gets some measurements for you. The actual case thickness there is that's around about 18-1/2mm. That's the actual case thickness there. I get this ruler, it's usually easier with that. The actual case depth on this particular one here is around about 68 to 69 mm. It'll be measured with the faceplate. The back set on this here is 40 mm from the center here where the key goes in to the face plate as well. The fore-end width there is 25 mm, the fore-end height is 135 mm. The fixing centres, give or take a millimeter there. Guys, you're looking at around about the 108 mm there. Probably, you can zoom right in. Few other distinctive features of this particular lock, you have roller cams situated in here, so if anybody tried to shoot the bolt or try to hacksaw the bolt, then when they hit those roller bearings in there, then the hack saw's physically just going to slide on those ball bearings there. Another feature as well is you have these antidrill face plates here. That stops anybody trying to drill through the lock and there's also a curtain glide inside here to stop you manipulating the Lever, so it's up there in the elk of our affairs. One of the most important things that I like to try and demonstrate or try to explain to customers when you're considering this quality of lock, is the actual engineering that goes on inside.
It is hard for me to open it up and explain it to you. So as a locksmith, been in the industry 25 plus years, when you're actually looking at the security of these, this is the procession of the actual build quality, is why you're paying a little bit more for this particular type of lock. The more accurate the precision is on the lock, then the harder they are to manipulate, so that is well worth bearing mind. Also the keep here also is a full-body keep here. Therefore, it is going to protect the bolt as it's in the frame, there as you can see. So there you go guys. I think I've said all that I need to say about this particular lock, but if you need a bit information of this or any of the products that we have, pop us over an e-mail, use the live chat that we have or simply pick up the phone, give us a call. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and more importantly we'd love to see you as a customer. So from me Darrel, and of us at the team, thanks for taking the time to tune in. I hope to catch with you real soon. Take care now. Bye, bye.
