This Mila Evolution replacement uPVC multipoint lock gearbox is available with a 35mm backset, to measure your own simply check the distance from the edge of the faceplate to the centre of the keyhole. The gearbox has a cutout found on the top right hand side which is unique to this range. The Mila Evolution gearbox is available with a 92mm PZ, which is the distance from the centre of the keyhole to the centre of the follower. This model can also easily reverse the handing, when the gearbox is not attached to the multipoint, simply turning it in the desired location and then re-installing it back into the door will achieve this.

Mila produce and manufacture a wide range of UPVC products and locking solutions in general. They maintain high quality during production and offer a nice variety of security products for doors and windows.

This model is a replacement gearbox from Mila, the gearbox is usually the first part to fail in a multipoint lock as it has to deal with the mechanical stress of all the moving components which is centralized in the gearbox.
These models can be identified by the marking of Mila on the multipoint strip.

Hi guys, my name's Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at Today we're going to have a look at a Mila gear box that is now available on our website. It's part of the Mila Evolution range of gear boxes and some of its distinctive markers is that as you can see up here you've got this piece that's cut out here. To digress slightly what I wanted to actually show you is the actual multipoint lock itself.

Now there's a little bit of history with this particular type of lock because it was made by Mila and if you actually look here in between the latch and the actual bolt etcetera you may see the marking Mila. What you'll find is this particular lock was made by Mila, but was made for the big sheds like Wickes and B&Q and so forth for their complete range of multipoint locks. Another common marker as well with these is that you'll find that you've got these half bolts and shoot bolts, etc. It's not always but mostly you'll find that this particular type of permutation then.

All right so that's what the actual gearbox and actual lock would look like. And like I said they mostly were made for the likes of the DIY sheds etc., but they were manufactured by Mila.

What we want to have a look at today because 99% of the time what normally fails on a multipoint lock is the gearbox that sits in the centre. So you don't necessarily need to purchase all of this, all you need to do is locate the gearbox itself.

If you take the lock out of the door and have a look at it. If it has got this step that sits on the back of, we can just rest that there a second. If it's got this step that sits here like this, then the chances are that this is the actual lock that you need. Now it only came in one size of back set, and the back set between there and there is 35 millimetres. So you can take that measurement and check that out. Also the PZ end measurement here to here is also 92 millimetres, that's standard in the industry so that's what you need to look at.

Another distinct feature that was also with this particular type of lock also was that it had what we call in the industry a split follower. Which allowed different functionality from the outside compared to the inside. And if you were to take your handles off you may see a split spindle like this with springs on either side. You may not, but if you have then the chances are you're using this type of functionality of this particular lock.

Needless to say you don't need to have a split spindle, it'll work quite happily as an ordinary lock where you lift up the handle and turn the key and you can throw the bolts from both sides. But it does have that function you may not be using it, but it does have it.

Also whilst I've got this gearbox here you will see also to change to actual handing here, it's quite simple. All you would need to do is to actually turn this around and then you'd have the different handing depending on which way your door would swing. So it's pretty standard like that.

So it's the gearbox we're talking about. We can actually get the full complete multipoint lock but if it's just the gearbox that is broken guys just invest in a gearbox, you don't need to change the rest of it. That's a top tip here from LocksOnline. So I don't think there's much more I can say about it. Like I said, distinctive feature, this cut out in the back, that's quite common with this particular range of Mila Evolution range of multipoint locks.

So if there's something that I haven't mentioned, you think "Oh, I need a bit more information." Pop on the phone, use our live chat, it's totally free, or pop us over an email. Either way we'd love to hear from you, more importantly we'd love to see you as a customer.

So from me, Darrel, and all of us the LocksOnline team, take care and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now. Bye-Bye
