UNION cylinder measurements are calculated by measuring from the edge of the cylinder to the centre of the cam on both sizes of the product. To find the appropriate cylinder dimensions for your requirements, follow the sizes and the examples given below. Please note only one set of keys is supplied if ordering keyed alike.
Our product specifications are given in good faith but can be subject to manufacturer change without notice. Should an attribute be of essense to your purchase, please feel free to contact us first for confirmation.
Hi, guys. My name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now, we've put these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer in hopefully a little bit more detail than you may get just from a picture, et cetera.
So today, I want to be able to show you an oval cylinder that we have. It's called an Oval Half Cylinder that we have on our website. This is the actual product here. Now, back in the '70s and the early '80s, et cetera, when Union was launching this particular type of cylinder out, it was directly to compete with the Euro cylinders that were coming in from Europe. And this was called then the British Oval Cylinder. However, being the European trying to drive against the UK, this has kind of lost favour so much in the UK these days. But nevertheless, there's still a lot of locks being sold that have this type of footprint. And of course, there are locks already fitted that have this footprint, and it may be sometimes that you need to change the cylinder. So, they're still readily available.
Now, this particular cylinder is available in two different sizes. This particular size here is the 32 millimeter, which is the distance from the face leading there to the center of the screw hole. And there's also a slightly longer one there, 37 millimeter to the screw hole also. It comes as standard with two sets of keys, as well.
Now, there are two different types of oval cylinder on the market that have very similar sort of size in regards to this. There's this particular size. There's also a Scandinavian oval which is slightly fatter, but then there's also a smaller oval. So, what I'm going to do is, I'm going to get the measurements and therefore then, you can see on the video how we would measure this particular cylinder so you'll make sure you're getting the right one. So, the actual width there is around about 16 to 17 millimeters in width, and the actual height of this one here is 30 millimeters. So, as long as you've got those fixed measurements, then you know that this is the particular cylinder that you are actually looking for.
Now, it comes as I mentioned, as standard with three keys. We can cut more keys if you want. We can also as well, have these keyed alike for you, if you wanted to have a front door or a back door or an office door, or a gate or a fence, et cetera, and you want to have one key to fit them all, as well. So, by all means pop us over an email in respect to that.
But listen, if you need a bit more info on this or any of the products that we have, pop us over an email. Use the live chat that we have, or simply pick up the phone and give us a call. We'd love to hear from you. We'd love to see you as a customer also. So from me, Darrel, and all of us at the team, thanks for taking the time to tune in. I hope to catch up with you real soon. Take care. Bye-bye
