Hi, guys. My name's Donald, I'm head of the Tech Team here at
LocksOnline.co.uk and we're doing some product reviews today. We're going
to have a look now at the Union 1334 Drawback Night Lock. If you zoom in
there for us Lee, we've got all the bits and pieces here on there, so I'll
go through them all as we speak here.
So, this is the actual part. This beautiful brass finish on this particular
type of lock and it's a pity I'm going to have fingerprints all over it,
but there you go then. There's two particular parts to this lock. The first
part is that it's got a deadbolt and the second part there it's got a
latch. What it allows you to do is you can actually use it as a latch like
normal there to allow you to lock the door like normal. The key which then
gets inserted into here will actually draw that back. Look, I don't know if
you can put that in there and that's drawing the latch back there, okay?
When you're on the inside you can just pull it back like that, all right?
Now if you want to have free access all the time, what you can do is pull
it back and turn it. That actually then keeps the latch in, so now the door
can open in and out. So, that's one of the functions of this particular
drawback version. Now when you want that little bit of extra security,
okay, what you can do is you can insert the key either in the door here or
I'll pull the key out here for a second and I'll put it in the back of the
lock. This allows you here to actually throw a bolt and it'll throw double
like that.
So now, when you want to deadlock the door you can throw this bolt, so that
is now still operational, but this actually now deadlocks the door; because
you've got a key on the outside and you've got a key on the inside, you've
effectively dead locked the door; no pun at all. Now, you'll be able to
operate all of this with a key and I'll just pop this in here from the
outside, and I'll draw in the bolt back lock, and then I'll draw in the
bolt back again; then you could turn again and that actually draws the
latch back, so from the outside you can use the cylinder that comes as a
standard.
It comes in loads of different finishes, this is the brass version; all
fingerprints now all over it. It comes in white as well as standard; there
are two different sizes available; this is the 40 mil version and there's
also a 60 mil version as well available on this particular type of lock.
One of the indicators here is I don't know if you can actually zoom in
here, but when you fit this particular type of lock you'll see that there's
a little mark on there. I don't know, if I can push that down and you see
that there's a little arrow; I don't know, can you get into that? Can we
actually zoom into that? Can you see there's a little arrow there and
there's a little mark there on the [Inaudible 00:02:51].
When you fit in this particular type of lock you need to make sure that
those two are lined up there to make sure that the functionality of the
lock works the way it's meant to work the keep; a good lovely, strong,
robust keep; beautiful quality; again now with fingerprints all over it.
This has got a fixing here and there, and obviously a fixing then that
drives through the centre of the door jamb as well. So, you know, when
you've got it on your door, I don't know if you can zoom in on that, that's
a lovely piece of engineering, beautiful piece of kit, Okay?
So, it comes with a standard cylinder. It comes with a rose that sits over
the cylinder like that, all right? These are classified as drawback locks,
drawback night latches and drawback rim locks because you're drawing back
the latch like that, okay? That's the reason why they call it that and of
course, the beauty is that this particular type is that you can deadlock
it.
Okay, there you go. So, this is the Union 1334 Drawback Night Latch
available at LocksOnline.co.uk. So if you want to pick up some come and buy
off our site. Appreciate your time, thank you very much. Bye, bye now.
