Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at our product review videos.

Today we're talking about Weiser knob sets. And more importantly, we're talking about the latch that comes as an addition to the Weiser knob sets if you're looking at wanting to get your knob sets further away from the edge of the door. Now our standard knob sets come with a latch inside that has the adjustment from 60 to 70mm on the backset. So therefore then, you could either have your handle at 60mm or at 70mm. That's pretty standard in the industry these days.

But there are some times that if you've got a wide door or you've got a set of double doors, maybe having the knobs too close to each other probably doesn't suit. In which case, you may want to be looking at getting the extension latch, like this, that works now with all the model range of that latches of knob sets that are available. So it will work with the Weiser Troy Set and it will also work with the Beverly range as well. So this is what this is for.

Now one thing you need to be aware of is that on the back end here, it has the new style where you would actually put the actual knob set on here. And it goes through this half-moon shape here, as you can see. This is a new style. The old style used to be white and it used to have a spindle follower in there. So if you're thinking of replacing, or something like that, the chances are, if you're thinking of trying to get this to work with your existing knob set, if they're quite an old set from the ‘70s and the ‘80s, chances are this isn't going to work for you, guys. You need to be looking at purchasing a new knob set as well.

S, this particular one has the deadlocking feature right here on the back, as you can see here. It has this little snip at the back there that when get pushed in by the keep, I don't know if you can actually zoom in there enough, when that gets pushed in this gets deadlocked. And that's to stop anybody trying to use a slipping mica, what we call it in the industry, or like a credit card to try and slip the latch that you should probably see in the films to get in. So that's what that particular device is there for.

Now to give you some sort of idea, on this particular one here, the backset to the centre there is 127mm. Okay. So it's quite a lot in regards to how far it sits back on the door there. The actual sanded faceplate there is pretty industry standard. I'd say 25, 26mm there in its width. And its overall height there, the fore end height is 56mm as standard. It's not really much that we can say about this. But, of course, the beauty is for the video, it allows you to see the actual latch and all its flesh and all its glory.

So, therefore, then if you're thinking to yourself, "Hmm, that looks to be what I really need," then at least now you have the opportunity to see it and all its dimensions. Just to give you a little bit more info as well, the actually width of that latch there is actually 21mm. So, if you've cut your whole, check to see whether or not the diameter's right or whether or not you need to bore it out. But if you're thinking of drilling a fresh whole, you guys are going to be drilling a 22mm whole to give it a little bit of flexibility there in regards to fitting it.

If you need a bit more information or a bit more advice, by all means give us a call. Use the live chat on our website. It's totally free. Or you can just pop us over an email. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and, more importantly, we would love to see you as a customer. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thanks for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Thanks now. Bye-bye.
