Hi guys, my name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Today we're talking about gearboxes for multipoint locking solutions for windows.
The range that we have here in front of us today is the range from Mila. It's the new ones from Mila that are actually available and can retrofit the old gearboxes. Now let me tell you a little bit about gearboxes, because normally when you've got your locking handle and you move your handle up and down, the bolts that fire out on either side or up and down etc., it's the gearbox in the centre that takes all of the abuse and the weight in regards to these espags that shoot out.
Normally it's never lubricated, we don't seem to want to maintain our windows, it's just the way things are. And eventually things start to corrode a little bit, the window gets a little bit stiffer and stiffer and so forth. And it's the gear box that actually eventually fails.
The range that we have here in front of us today is the range from Mila. This is the actual range. It's the new ones that are available from Mila. They come in four different variants. They come in one size which is 20 millimetres. That's the back set is 20 millimetres, and it actually has a stamped 20 actually on there. I don't know if you can zoom in close enough to see that, alright. It's actually got 20 on there, just to see if I can link in there. So if yours is 20 millimetres, then you'll have 20 stamped on it. Similarly, if it's 22 millimetres, it'll have 22 stamped on it.
So that's what you need to be aware of. That's the actual backs. So that's one of the key items to help you establish whether or not it's the back set is one that you have. Also if you look here, on the actual covers, the cover over the espag bolt that shoot off on either side, it has actually Mila stamped on it.
Now this is the new range that's available. And fair news to Mila, they've actually sat down and thought about it, but it is actually will retrofit the older variants as well. This is the older variant here that I have. And some of the variances is that the shape here is slightly different. So if it's got Mila stamped on your window, the chances are that these new gearboxes are going to fit.
There's also a different variant as well on these particular gearboxes in as much as that it either has roller catch here on either side, or it doesn't. All right, so that's another thing that you need to be aware of. So not only do you need to check the back set, but also check to see whether or not you've got these roller counts as well on them.
The actual handle centres here, for the handles you want to fit is a standard 42 millimetres, so you can check that by all means. The size of the follower there is the standard, is the seven millimetres, and I have a handle here. And as you can see there, it sits in there no problem at all. That's how it would actually be fitted onto the window.
So there you go guys, it's the new range. It's brand new. You can get the extensions on either side, it's available special order. But mostly they just need cleaning up and they can be reused. But if they're totally seizing, totally solid, then by all means give us a call and we can arrange some extensions for you. Of course all of those are different sizes, depending on the size of the window.
So if you need a bit more information, or there's something that I haven't really mentioned that you think, "Oh I need to know that or how do I get that off, or how exactly does it all work or get put together?" look, pop us over a call. Use our live chat on our website. That's totally free.
You can talk to me or any of the guys in the sales team. They're all pretty knowledgeable on these particular range of products. Or by all means, pop us over an email in an evening and we'll get in touch with you the next day. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and obviously, more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer.
So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the Locks Online team, thanks very much for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now, bye-bye.
