Hi, guys. My name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.
The product that we have here in front of us here today is a range of gearboxes that's designed for UPVC windows. It's the Roto range of gear boxes. And this is the actual gear box itself here as you can see.
Now, for whatever reason, Roto have decided not to actually put their name on it. So, it's quite hard to actually establish as to whether or not, if you're thinking of replacing this particular gear box is what can you determine as to whether or not this is the particular gear box that you are looking for.
So, a couple of the key indents is that they have these plastic covers as you can see here which actually cover the actual gear that would actually sit in here to throw the bolts on either side. So, that's pretty unique to this particular type of gear box.
Also, that you have there, they come in two different sizes. This is the 22 millimetre version. If you actually zoom in there for us, Lee, you can actually see 22 written on there. Okay? To be honest with you, the 22 millimetre version, which is this version here, doesn't have anything written on it. For whatever reason, Roto decided not to put any forms of identity on most of their products, needless to say their name.
But, so the way you can determine if this is the particular one of range of gear boxes, is have a look at these plastic caps here that go over the espags that sit on either side. That's quite unique. On the 22-millimetre version, you have the 22, and on the non-22, the 20-millimetre version you won't have anything. So, that's the difference between the two of them.
The standard centres here, for the actual fixings here, for your handle is quite standard. Therefore, your 2-millimetre centres, and also the size of your follower there is a standard 7 millimetre follower. I have a handle here, and as you see, that fits in there no problem at all.
Now, one thing you need to be aware of is that the extensions on either side normally in any industry, it's the gearbox that normally fails with these types of locks. Normally, they're never lubricated, they're never maintained. They never put any oil in them, and eventually over time, corrosion starts to build in on either side of the actual rods, the actual espags that sit on either side. With that due and due stress, it normally destroys the gear box inside.
So, if you want to strip it all down, you normally can free up the espags on either side no problem at all, replace the gear box, and you're fight and fit again with a brand new locking solution on your particular window.
So, there you go guys it's available on our website. It's the Roto wrench, quite hard to determine whether you do have a Roto your actual windows. Hopefully, this video, just a couple-a-minute video has given you an opportunity to look a little bit further, and for you to turn around and be able to say, "Ah, yeah. That's exactly what I've been looking for." Or, if not, pick up the phone and have a chat with us. Or, by all means, look at the other ranges that we do have on our website.
But from me, Darrell, I hope I've given you enough information there for you to make an informed decision, and if you need more info, like I said, give us a call. More importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer, that would be really good for us.
From me, Darrell, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, take care and catch up with you real soon. Bye-bye, now. Bye-bye.
