This Beyonet UPVC Window Lock Gearbox from Saracen uses bayonet style rods for the locking which attach into either side of the Saracen Bayonet UPVC window lock gear box. These models come in two different sizes, both a 20mm and 22mm versions; the 22mm has a unique lip on the edge of the plate. The bolt projections for this gearbox is a standard 11.5mm, with fixing centres at 42mm. The Saracen Bayonet UPVC window lock gear box accepts a 7mm spindle from a locking or non locking handle.
Saracen are specialists in designing and manufacturing UPVC locking products, for doors and windows as well as many more.
This model is a gearbox for UPVC windows; the gearbox itself is usually the culprit of failure in these locking setups as they are required to do all of the mechanical action inside the gearbox.
If you are looking to replace your model but are unsure as to whether this is yours, this model has the company name "Saracen" on the faceplate as well as "High Security".
Hi guys, my name's Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our current review videos.
The product that we have here today is a window lock. It's designed for a UPVC door. It's a Saracen Bayonet window-style gear box that's designed to sit in the centre of the window lock system that you may have on your particular type of window.
So, here's the actual gear box themselves. They're called a bayonet-fitting type. It's because you may find that you've got these type of rods that you may have on your system here, like that, and the way that they work is that they've got this bayonet sort of fit, and I don't know if you can actually zoom in there.
The idea is that our particular type of system would actually be, you crush it there and you twist these into position. They're designed to really go in and you need a little bit of force to get them in etc. and you would twist them and they would lock into position. It's not normally these bars that go wrong. It's mostly the gear boxes that you have problems with. These are available as well as a separate order but this video is more talking about the actual gear boxes themselves.
Some other form of key identifiers that you'll find as well on the actual front of these, I don't know if you can zoom in on there but you'll see also Saracen written there on the actual face and underneath of there you see the words "High Security" as well written there. So those are some markers that you may want to have a look for. You've also got Saracen as well written on the actual side of the actual side of lock case as well.
Now they come in two different sizes. They come in 20 millimetre and they come in 22 millimetres. This the one I have in front of me is the 20 millimetre, that's standard, and the 22 millimetre version is this one here. The differences are, see if you can notice here you've got some little lips here, all right. So the 22-millimetre version, if you've got these little lips like that it's the 22-millimetre version that you're looking for and if you've got the one without those lips then it's the 20-millimetre version.
The bolt projection here is standard, it's 11.5 millimetres and the actual screw centres as well, that's the fixing centre screw. Your handle is a standard 42 millimetres. That's standard in the industry these days.
I've got myself a locking handle here and, of course, that would sit in there no problem at all like that and then you would screw those screw in on either side. This is a locking handle, available on LocksOnline, but this is just to show you basically how the operation works. The spindle on that is 7 millimetres, is standard. So that's where I'm with you now.
So there you go guys and the Saracen Bayonet-type gearbox is available on our website, LocksOnline.co.uk.
