This model is a part of Saracens high security range that uses serrated bars which attach to either side of the gearbox. There are not many indentifying marks on this model although on the bar there is a code reading "63-05474.TN" if your model has this code then this is most likely the model you are looking for.
This model is a part of Saracens range of UPVC window lock gear boxes; these are meant as replacements for the gearbox found in your UPVC window lock.
These tend to fail first as they carry the majority of the work, the mechanical functioning, of the window lock.
The backset size for this model is 22mm, which is the measurement from the edge of the cam to the centre of the follower. The fixing centres for the Saracen HS is an industry standard of 42mm. The gearbox length on this model is 107mm; the width of the gearbox case is 26mm.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.
The product that we have here in front of us today is the Saracen. It's the HS series. The high-security series of gear boxes that are designed for UPVC windows. This is the gear box here.
Now, I like this gear box. They spent a bit of time to actually think about the mechanism and how it actually works. And if I was to actually move this in and out here, you can see that it really is a sweet mechanism in how it all works. See, look at how they come in and out there like that.
And of course they've even thought about putting in covers over here to stop debris getting into the lock when it's in the open position there and when it's in the lock position there. So they've really put a lot of thought into how this mechanism really works.
Now, it's designed to work with bars on either side and this is the type of bar you would see on either side like that. Of course then this would shoot a bolt out into the side of the window and obviously, it's got a roller cam on here as well. It really is a functionable security product.
But what we're talking about today is not necessarily these bars, because these very rarely go wrong, it's the actual gear box that's sits inside. This is what is taking all the movement, the momentum, etc. and over time things can start to fail on these.
Now, this one comes standard with what they call a 22-millimetre back set. Now Saracen measure from where this rail is here to the centre there as there back set. So not the actual top of the face. That's well worth you knowing. This one here is a 22-millimetre back set. The centre's there for the screw fixings is a standard 42 millimetre back set, that's pretty standard in the UK.
Now there are other manufacturers that have similar types of locking mechanisms to this one, and there's no real markings, there's no name on this at all. Actually inside there, I don't know if you can actually zoom in there for us, probably you won't get it, it's too small. But there is actually a small marker in there, a number, and it's 63-05474.tn. Now, if you've got that stamped in there then at least then you know you're on the right track for replacing your gear box.
Now, a standard follower on these, that's the size of the spindle that these go into is 7 millimetres, and if I operate that there that's basically me operating the lock there, no problem at all. But what I will do is because it's quite a unique lock it doesn't have any sort of identifiers. I'll give you some other measurement here.
So if you've got the lock, looking at the size of the plate there, that there is 107 millimetres. I'm going to call that 107 millimetres from there to there and also from this datum here inside this silver edge there to the bottom of the actual lock there. That there is 26 millimetres give or take about a half a millimetre. So there you go guys. Available on our website, the Saracen HS range of window locks that are available on our website.
If you need any more information, there's something that I haven't mentioned there that you think, "Oh I could do with that measurement," or "I'm not 100 percent sure," listen, use our live chat on our website you know you can talk to us and it's totally free of charge. You can either talk to me or any of the guys in the tech team or the sales team. They'd love to hear from you. More importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer.
So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, take care and we'll catch up with you real soon. Bye-bye now, bye-bye.
