Millenco are a UPVC manufacturer that design and produce UPVC window lock gear boxes as replacement items instead of you having to source the entire multipoint lock if yours has broke.

The gearbox in window locks tend to break often due to the amount of work they are required to do overall in the locking system. They are responsible for the locking, unlocking, opening and closing. As a result of this they often fail.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.

The product we have here in front of us today is the UPVC gear box for windows. It's the Trojan hardware gear box that's designed to work with UPVC windows.

Now mostly if a UPVC window lock starts to fail, 90% of the time it's the gear box that starts to fail. Pure and simply, it's the part that's doing most of the work. And what you'll find is that when you look at the bars moving backwards and forwards, if they're not lubricated, if they're not maintained, they've gone a bit corroded, etc., then all the pressure is in on the gear box. And what you'll find is that the teeth get ripped on the gear box and then you end having to replace it.

So this particular gear box is quite, is quite varied and is quite unique in its range. And it was manufactured, and it's actually manufactured by Milleco and it's called a Trojan gear box. But you many actually find different names on the face plate. So I'll get one and I'll show up. On this particular version of it, you see there that we've got the actual Trojan hardware and so forth actually stamped on there as you can see there, right?

But you may find that there might be different manufacturers' names stamped on here or even the window manufacturer's themselves. This was a very, very, very popular sort of a gear box in its day. It's no longer produced in as much as that the actual mechanism is used on windows these days. And the rods and all, we can no longer get hold of, but the gear boxes we can.

Now if you wanted to take this apart and strip it down and get it out. What you need to do is undo those two screws, and with your screwdriver, pry this particular cover will come off. It's clipped on, and you to get the screwdriver in and just give it a little bit of a twist in tension there and this will pop away.

Once that's popped away, you'll see then, here's the two holders then that would hold the actual rods that goes on either side. Once you can get those out of place, you could take the rods out and then this is the actual gear box that you can actually take out.

Some other key idents, even though, even though the name might be slightly different on there, the other key idents, it will have Trojan hardware actually stamped up on the side here like that.

Now, the standard centres here is 42 millimetre, that's pretty standard in the UK, in the industry these days. And also the actual size of the follower there is 7 millimetres. I've got a handle here and it would fit in there no problem at all. That's pretty standard.

So it's the Trojan hardware gear box, like you say, it's no longer used as a locking solution on windows these days. The actual bars on either side are now obsolete, you can no longer get hold of those. But we can actually still get hold of the actual gear boxes and this is it here. And as I've mentioned, you may find different names on this actual plate. So keep your eye on that. It may be that you've got a Trojan but it could have any manufacturer's name on here.

So there you go guys. It's available on our website, LocksOnline.co.uk. Listen if there's a bit of information there that you're not 100% sure about or you want a bit of advice on how to get it off or what or anything like that. Pick up the phone, give us a call, speak to me. Use our Live Chat, that's totally free on our website. Either way, we'd love to hear from you, and to be honest with you, more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer.

So from me, Darrel and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thank you very much and take care and catch up with you real soon. Bye-bye now. Bye-bye.
