This Yale Hook Bolt Multipoint Lock Gearbox is a replacement gearbox for worn out or broken upvc locks. The backset available on the Yale Multipoint lock gear box is 35mm, this is the distance between the edge of the faceplate to the centre of the keyhole. This replacement gearbox has a PZ centre measurement of 92mm and 62mm, depending on the follower being used. This can be measured from the centre of the follower to the centre of the keyhole. The multipoint lock for this model as a whole is now obsolete but these replacement gearboxes are readily available. Handing on this model is easily reversed with a simple turn of the screw found on the latch itself.

Yale's reputation for providing high levels of security products is beyond question. They have been in business since 1843 and provide an absolutely massive range of security products that are used throughout the world.

This model is a part of their UPVC product range, the Yale Multipoint lock gearbox. These tend to fail before any other component in a multipoint lock as they are required to deal with the load of operations of the door almost entirely by themselves. An indentifying mark of these models is the location of the latch, which can be found situated underneath the hook bolt, which is unique to this model.

Hi guys, my name's Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos.

The product that we've got here today is a Yale gear box that's designed for, well, to be honest with you, they're obsolete now, but a range of multipoint locks that are designed for UPVC doors. This we have here is the actual gear box. It's the part that sits in the centre that does all the work to lock everything into place.

Here's the bad boy here. One of the distinct markers that you'll find with this particular type of gear box and lock, etc., is that the actual latch sits underneath the bolt. Now that's quite different in the UK. Normally you've got the bolt and you've got the latch sitting on the top. So if you've got that particular type of functionality, the chances are this is the type of lock or the gear box that's sitting in behind your UPVC door, after you've taken off the strip.

What you'll also find as well is that it does have the functionality, you don't have to use it, but you could use it if you want it, with the different sensors here on the actual handles here. Now the purpose of this is that it allows you to have different latching functions on the outside compared to that on the inside. So on the outside you might want to use it like a traditional Yale lock when you close a door, where you need a key just to get back in, etc., that might be the functionality that you might be using in your particular door. You don't have to but you could be.

Now to give you some sort of ideas on measurements, if you've managed to get it out and you're looking at it and it looks virtually the same, some other key measurements that might help you is that the back set, that's from the leading edge here to the centre of the key hole is standard 35. They didn't make any other one, so that's pretty standard. You'll have 35 millimetres there. The actual centres between this follower on the top and the keyhole down there, that is 92 millimetres, and the one in the centre here to the keyhole is also 62 millimetres.

Now as I've said before, the strip or the actual locking mechanism, the multipoint lock in its entirety is now obsolete, but we can still get these gear boxes for you. So what you see on the front, if you look down the actual plate, you'll see Yale stamped on the actual lock and that will be the first indicator to say whether or not you start to investigate down this particular range. It's called the G2000 range, but you won't see that actually written on the front of the lock at all.

If you wanted to change the handing on these guys, it's pretty standard, it's pretty straight forward. You just undo the screw, turn the latch around, screw the screw back in, and that's it. Now the handing is on the opposite side, depending on which way your door opens and closes. There's not really much more that I can say about this particular lock other than the distinct advantage, as I've mentioned before, is that the latch is actually below the deadbolt in the centre.

So from me, Darrel, I think I've got it all. But listen, if there's something that you think, "Oh, I could know that measurement" or "I'm not 100% sure", by all means, use our live chat on our website, pick up the phone and give us a call, or just pop us over an email. Either way, we'd love to hear from you, and more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer.

So from me, Darrel, and all of us at the LocksOnline team, thanks for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now, bye-bye.
