Designed with security in mind, these drop-bolts for double-gates hold the secondary gate (or 'slave gate') in place so that you can lock the main gate (master gate) either into or onto the frame of the slave gate.
With security being at the forefront of any commercial, agricultural, or even domestic gate setup, these drop-bolts offer protection against being un-bolted, by means of a welded paddle which can be rotated into the closing side of the gate and sits into holes that you would drill in this closing side in both the locked and unlocked position. You'd drill one hole which can be used to hold the bolt up when unlocked, and another further down to hold the bolt in place to prevent the bold being undone.
As this would all be done on the locking side of the gate (so, the surface of the gate frame which faces the opposing gate), once locked, there is no way to rotate this paddle out of the holes in the gate without first unlocking the main gate. This gives you a firm and reliable way to ensure that the gate remains firmly bolted in place, not only helping to prevent anyone from forcing the lock, but also protecting the gate itself from being damaged in the wind, which is an all too familiar concept for anyone using traditional non-security drop-bolts when the wind picks up and rattles the bolts loose!
These are suitable for both metal and wooden gates up to 100mm frame depth. Just bear in mind the mounting brackets on these are designed for 50mm+ frame depth, so would not be suitable for thin iron gates etc.
The anchored ground bracket supplied with these needs to be recessed into the ground and firmly cemented in place to ensure the integrity of the bolt's operation is maintained. For this it is recommended that a sharp sand & cement mix is used.
