The dual chamber design is utilised to compensate
for changes on atmospheric & environmental
conditions
The Fyreye ionisation smoke detector incorporates a
single radioactive source (Americium 241 < 0.7uCi)
ionises two chambers which causes a small current to
flow to electrodes in each chamber. One chamber is
open to the atmosphere, the other one is sealed.
Any smoke entering the open chamber will cause the
DC current to drop. This current is compared to the
constant current in the sealed chamber.
The difference between these two values is
monitored by the detector. If the difference is above
the threshold level, the Detector will turn its LED on
to signal a fire.
