Many thanks for popping on board with us today to have a look in detail of the all new ABUS Integral Van and Door Lock.
I spend a bit of time checking out the fixings to the new lock and was quite impressed by the size of the bolts that comes with it as standard.
They don’t really mention in the pictures or in the documentation on what size door it will fit, so we decided to pull it out and check out some of these measurements.
The size of the bolts that come with the Abus Integral Van and Door Lock will allow the lock to be fitted to a door that is 60 mm thick, it comes with backing plates that really beef up the fixing into the substrate.
The main advantage with this lock is, it comes as standard with the famous Abuse Diskus Padlock as standard, this is the Padlock that every one has copied over the years, But Abus was the original manufacture of the Diskus Padlock.
You can if you want purchase the lock without the padlock, just incase you already have a padlock or perhaps you may want to implement a master key system for a fleet of vans or garage doors. The Abus Diskus Padlocks are made from stainless steel as standard.
The size of the square in the middle is just a little larger than three inches, this square is what houses the padlock.
The distance between the two sets of fixings from either side is around 100mm so, if you're looking at offering this lock up to your van or garage door, measure from the centre line to the left 50 mm and to the right 50 mm, this will give you the start of where the bolts will be fitted into the door. the area after the 50 mm off where the bolts will go through is about 40 mm.
The locks overall width is 220 mm
They come in black and white, white is standard in stock and black can be ordered as a special order, if so required.
Some of the major features that makes this locking solution successful is that it has a paracentric, key way design to make it harder to pick the lock. You would find it hard to get a bolt cropper jaw in to attack the padlock, Drill Resistant, Saw Resistant, Double Bolted and can be offered with master keyed padlocks or keyed alike. Key retaining so you have to lock it before you can take the key out and also the storm and weather cap on the front helps to ensure that most of the salt and spray is kept out of the locks fussy bits
For around £50.00 you can’t really by any better and being so easy to install, you could be up and running with some decent security in no time.
LocksOnline recommends the Abus Integral Van and Door Lock and is a serious contender for your hard earned dosh.
