Hi to all that are new to our weekly article on Recorded Crime in a town within the UK.
We take a random town by placing a pin on a map and carry out research on the crime within that area. Some truly amazing stats are uncovered that even the locals may not be aware off.
Today we will have a look at Tenby Pembrokeshire, SW Wales
Tenby is one off the premier holiday destinations in SW Wales. Famous for being the place to visit back at the turn of the last century, first with Victorians then the miners from the welsh valleys. Now still popular and seems to be the place to have bachelor and hen parties.
Jan, Feb, March, April and May saw only 2 Burglaries within the main area of the town, The first five months saw over 130 antisocial behaviour reports. Being the SW Wales's Capital for parties you may take this as being reasonable especially when you compare it to the county town with over 400 reported antisocial incidents.
But what happend in June, this little hamlet saw a massive increase with 36 Burglaries reported in one month. most of these seemed to be in the Heywood Lane area of the town topping over 17 of the break-in’s.
Violent crime seems to be on the up as well, supporting a near double increase in June compared to the three months before.
Drugs also seem to be on the increase based on the six months before June 2012,
Mind, saying all this, there seems to be a different way in reporting crime based on 12 months before and perhaps the figures are reflecting somewhat differently now!
Reading the above may suggest Tenby is coming a crime capital, but there is a lot of great things about Tenby and we can only assume this is a little hic-up that sooner rather than later Dyfed Powys Police will take control and bring every thing back to the reported figures listed over a year ago.
A few years back Tenby won the Britain in Bloom awards showing great dedication from the locals.
Don’t forget, that Tenby have some of the most beautiful beaches in the heart of the Pembrokeshire coast, they all carry the Blue flag for cleanness and crystal blue waters.
Tenby Harbour is one of the most beautiful towns in the area. From the sea you can look into the harbour and see all the coloured victorian town houses that overlook the drying harbour. Don't let this put you off popping in and spending some quality time.
