Keypad Access Control for Homes -- Yes Please ! pt2
We need better Keypad Access Control for our homes, flats and businesses
So Yale, Era, CodeLock, Zone, and all the other manufactures. Why dont you make an electronic keypad that can fit on the door. You can also fit a GSM sim card to that will allow a mobile app to connect via the mobile network to see what codes have been used and at the same time allow you to change codes as and when you need to, hey at the same time why dont you allow the app to open the door as well.
We know that there are mobile data carrier components that will allow you to communicate over the net. We also know there is now a list of manufactures making electronic keypads, with piezo technology to reduce battery juice and why dont you use a solar panel in the back of the keypad to get extra juice when the sun is out.
When you start putting all the above together this is really possible and with the technology that is out there now, one of the manufacturing companies could put a bit of RD into the mix and you could come up with a brilliant product that could give a customer all the control that they would ever need on their front door.
Again I had another customer on the phone yesterday, where the above solution would be ideal. He would like to control access to his home with the carers that come in to help his dad who is in his senior years. But at the same time he did not want to allow the carers access all the time. Conventional systems that are used all the time these days require a high degree of trust from people that you may not even know. Some people are great with that and then others feel that allowing people to invade their space and give people total free access all the time to their home disturbing.

I think the security industry is missing a trick on the domestic market, there are 100s and 1000s perhaps 10000s of homes out there that could be well happy spending around £400.00 or so on a lock that would allow them to control access remotely. Videx has a door intercom system that works with a mobile phone sim card and when installed correctly will allow you to open the door remotely and speak to people from your mobile phone when your down the shops. which is part there, but again would need to be hard wired to a locking solution on the door. perhaps some of these companies like Videx and CodeLock should collaborate and bring the flexibility of both their systems together and make a really great product.
Many thanks for having a read of my rant, you never know that perhaps some of the manufactures may read this in the industry and perhaps will trigger some thinking lightbulbs.
