Locksonline Evva EPS ........ For the discerning client (BS-EN1303 Euro Profile Cylinders)
With all the hype in the papers and the TV over the last couple of months of bumping cylinders, snapping cylinders etc this is the real choice to help protect yourself from these forms of attack, but first lets call a spade a spade and drill down into this Bumping and Snapping of cylinders
This is a practice that has been used by locksmiths for many years in manipulating pin tumbler locks, but guys this is an art, this is not something that you can pick up in five mins and now are able to break into any house, its just not that simple, I have been in the trade for over 25 years and still I am not that good and in most cases I fail compared to being successful. perhaps its because I am not that often on the tools these days :-).
There is a whole host of permutations to successfully bump a cylinder, but to be honest, I seriously doubt that a person who has the skill to bump a cylinder may not really be interested in your video recorder. (no doubt I will be proved wrong :-).
This is easy guys, and to be honest you need to concern yourself with this as a way of someone gaining access because the tools required is only a hammer and a screw driver. Not that I wont to go into detail, but within 40-50 seconds this method is a serious threat to gain access to your home and the burglar dont need many brain cells to use this method.
If you think you need to upgrade your locks, there are times when you best look at this as being an investment and not looking for the cheapest on the net. We did the same when we teamed up with Evva and signed up as a partner to their EPS system, Yes we could have gone to a whole host of suppliers, Kabba, Grundman, Cisa, Abus to name a few, but we settled with Evva. Some of these manufactures just did not cut the mustard in back up, lead times and service.
Making margin is all about efficiency in business and the last thing we want is a supplier who cant supply, or a product that is sub standard, so it is in our own interest to choose a manufacture that can come on top every time in each and every discipline.
For people who may not know there are two versions of EPS, One is the standard version and the other is the modular version. We use the Modular version on the euro cylinders and the standard version on all other variants of the EPS system.
So lets look at some key facts
Patent Protection - Its illegal for someone who is not authorized to cut the key, thats assuming they can get hold of a key blank in the first place. The side bar in the cylinder must see the correct key side profile if the cut is too shallow the key wont turn. To deep and the trap protection comes into force as the cylinder turns The pin system does not directly align to the cylinders typical sheer line and uses another side bar, this makes it dam hard to feel the cylinder by putting tension on the plug if your trying to pick it. Locksmiths will know what I am trying to say :-) The pins also have dummy gates on them so when you think you may have got one pin in place when picking there is know way of knowing until you think you have manipulated all of them that one of the pins is sitting in a trap gate. The keys are super durable and are made out of a special nickel silver to reduce wear. The cylinders comply to BS EN 1303 security grade 6 (the highest) attack resistance grade 2 (again the highest) The cylinders are designed to be drill resistant by having specially adapted pins in the case and plug that we will make a mess of any drill bit. Pull resistant, this is a procedure you may have seen on some old American films where they use a throw hammer - not going into so much detail here otherwise we will be letting out some secrets, Snap Resistant, the modular cylinders use a steel core as part of there design this increases resistance to a sideward/upward force compared to a traditional cylinder made out of brass. Not problem using these cylinders in a 1/2 hour fire door as they are fire rated. Can be Master Keyed Keys - We look after you, if you decide to buy an EPS cylinder the service does not stop after you have handed over the cash, WE LOOK AFTER YOUR SECURITY every cylinder we make in the EPS system we register to you, we keep a log of how many keys have been cut and when. If the name and address on the order is not what we have registered on our system then we dont cut the key it is as simple as that there are no exceptions and only a court of law would force our hand. We pride ourselves that we are not just a store on the net but we offer the service as well.
I am up to nearly a 1000 words now on EPS but I hope you get the picture on how good these cylinders are.
INVEST in your security it will pay dividends in the future.
Before I go, just one final thing - Lifetime Guarantee, yep we are so confident in the system we will give the cylinder a lifetime guarantee from mechanical failure through normal wear and tear.
