LocksOnline Wiring Diagram 006
The GSM switch is a great piece of kit that allows inputted telephone numbers that have been programmed into the device to change the state of a set of contacts. simply by calling the device, the device recognises your caller ID number and if you number is in the white list, the device will hang up the call and change the state of its contact. if your number is not recognised then the relay will not change.
In this diagram you will see the GSM switch triggering a timer relay to power an electronic electric strike release. The purpose of the timer circuit allows the door to stay open for a preset time. 5 seconds is pretty common for this time line.
You will notice this version, shows that power is connected permanently to the electronic strike release. and when the circuit is trigged the power drops to the lock. This electronic strike release is a fail safe electric strike release. these are used in environments that can be connected to a fire alarm that in the event of a fire alarm activation the lock can become free access. you may suggest that this could be the case in the opposite way if the strike was a failed locked version. the down side of the failed locked version will mean the power will be required to release the lock and in the vent of a fire there is know way of knowing if the fire may jeopardise the supply and put the electronic strike back into a lock position.
