Sometimes when you want to buy something, third party accreditation is one way of ensuring that what you are buying will actually do what it is intended to do.
Sold Secure has been around since the early 90’s and was primarily set up by a few police authorities to try and establish some sort of consistency, guidance and formats to grade security related products. As time went by the Master Locksmiths Association took over the responsibility of the Sold Secure brand and testing house.
Data is fed into the testing house from the Police, ACPO and insurance companies etc of the tools and techniques that these institutions are finding are being used throughout the UK to circumvent security products and systems etc.
This information is then used in a sequence of tests that would then grade the security product with either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.
If we were to take a ground anchor, and say, for example we had a hacksaw, two dozen blades and hours to spare, I dare say, eventually you would cut through a loop on the ground anchor and circumvent the security. So to lay a level playing field, time constraints are used. One may suggest that if you are not able to circumvent a ground anchor with a various range of tools say in 15 to 20 minutes then it would comply to a relevant security grading.
Sold secure also look at the type of tools that may be used by a casual opportunist thief, someone going a little more equipped, then finally someone perhaps who knows exactly what they are going to take and what tools give them the best chance to circumvent the security in place.
We sell a whole host of different Sold Secure Products of varying degrees of their Bronze, Silver and Gold rated products.
Off late, they have launched a new standard for cylinders, because of all this hype with snapping and bumping cylinders. This is called the Sold Secure, SS 312 Diamond Standard. The new Multilock Security cylinder we believe has past this standard (June 2012).
If your looking for chain, padlocks, ground anchors etc, then try and purchase ones that have been tested by Sold Secure and to the highest level your budget will allow, it is often that what you are keeping safe could be many thousands of pounds and could well have a lot of sentimental value. using a £10.00 padlock is disproportionate to protecting a £10,000.00 motorbike, Ideally look in the region of £100 to £150 spends on security and more if your budget will allow.
You can down load the Sold Secure catalogue from our site, that will give you some time to sit back and have a look at what is exactly on the market for your needs. we have quite a few sold secure products on our site, but just because we may not have them listed does not mean we cant source, a simple email and we can be back in touch with some good prices on anything that you may be after.
Thanks for taking the time to have a read, I hope it has been informative for you feel free to get back in touch if you need more advice or information. Sold Secure
