Wireless Door Intercoms
There has been a steady increase over the years of Wireless devices in both the IT world and that of security industry. These systems are taking advantage of the Wireless networks that are becoming available.
One of the advantages with door intercoms is you will no longer need to wire from the front door to the flat and there is also no need to have a fixed point within the flat to answer the front door.
One the of the most popular systems on the market at present is the GSM system. This takes full advantage of using the Mobile Phone Network. These systems will have a mobile phone sim card fitted in the device that allows the front door call station to dial a telephone number for the relevant button.
This in turn means that you do not have to be home to take a call from your front door.
There is a downside abate a small one in that there is a cost associated with the sim card. If you have a one door Wireless Door Intercom Station you could easily get away with a pay as you go Sim card. In which case a £10 top up could last you a year. If however you are looking at a block of flats then perhaps you may consider a contract sim on a calls only contract with unlimited calls. Or the least you could get away with. We have seen these contracts at around £5.00 per month (2015) which means around £60.00 a year cost.
In the grand scheme of maintenance for a block of flats that may not be a lot of money.
Other advantages with Mobile Phone Wireless Door Intercoms is that with the AES versions we have on our site you can also program in to the door entry station your mobile number into the sim card. Which means you can call the front door and it will recognise your telephone number in its white list. Hang the call up before it costs anything and open the door.
So again your access control is also sorted as well as the intercom system.
If someone leaves an apartment then you simply delete their number and add the next new tenants mobile number.
If you are a landlord and you have maintenance guys popping round to the flats you can program their mobile numbers into the white list and then there is no need to meet engineers on site or give them keys for access.
I am sure if you look at all the pros and cons when it comes to Wireless Door intercoms using the mobile phone network the pros far outweigh the cons.
There are other systems coming onto the market like using wifi and radio transmissions. The radio versions are pretty limited to distance of around 100 meters or so. The wifi systems are only coming on line now and could do with a bit more development in the sector. (in my view)
The Mobile phone systems we have can handle up to 500 apartments which is absolutely astounding. What would it cost to wire 500 apartments if you had to do so compared to fixing a intercom by the door. Get power to it and connect to a door lock and other than programming the numbers in the system is up and running.
Please have a look at these few links on the systems we have to offer. There is more coming on line all the time so well worth popping back. Also as with most of these systems they are going to be in constant development and new ideas will be proven to make the systems even better.
